current team
Over the past decades, I have had the privilege of working with a talented, proactive, and diverse group of researchers, students, and research assistants.
If you want to be part of my group and, most importantly, help advance neuroscience and medicine through optical imaging, feel free to contact me!
Dr. Rickson C. Mesquita
Associate Professor at the School of Computer Science, University of Birmingham. Dr. Mesquita is interested in developing diffuse optical methods for neuroscience and neuroimaging, with a particular emphasis in computational and biophysical modelling of neurophysiology.
Luis F. Bortoletto
Luis is a PhD candidate at the University of Campinas studying how fNIRS and other wearable devices can be used to understand anxiey and anxiety disorders in natural settings. He obtained his B.S. in Physics from the same University in 2021.
Ben Fry
Ben is a PhD student studying the instrumentation and data analysis algorithms for diffuse correlation spectroscopy and diffuse optical spectroscopy. With a background in mathematics and artificial intelligence, he’s interested in the application of machine learning to improving optical parameters value recovery from DCS and DOS boundary data allowing the estimation of clinically relevant markers.
Victor J. Sanchez
Victor is a PhD candidate at the University of Campinas working with functional connectivity and analyzing brain complexity as captured with fNIRS under several scenarios. He obtained his B.S. in Physics from the National Polytechnic School in Ecuador, and his M.Sc. in Applied Physics at the University of São Paulo, Brazil.
